Excerpts from the Diaries of Local Travelers
September 2009

Ernesto, as he introduced himself, sat next to me. He spoke only a little English and I was equally lacking in Spanish, but Daniel, sitting in front of us, was willing to translate.

Raising global children
by Sue Katz Miller

Our house is filled with art and instruments from Africa and South America. We listen to stacks of CDs in French and Portuguese. The stories we tell our children about our history together weave in strands from three continents.
