Energy Open House

"We don't have time to do this a light bulb or a home at a time. It's time to get political."

Do more than change light bulbs: get involved, write letters, emails, attend rallies, join Chesapeake Climate Action Network.
Mike Tidwell took action - he turned his house into the only nearly 100% energy efficient house in Maryland.

(at left) This stove burns corn, yet heats the whole house in the winter. Takoma Park has a corn silo for the city's cornburning stove owners.

(at right) Tidwell calls this his pancakepowered mower, because he gets his energy to mow from his Sunday morning pancakes.

In 50 minutes this solar oven makes perfect gooey chocolate chip cookies. With solar panels on the roof, and sound energy choices, the Tidwell's electric meter often runs backwards and stores energy on the Pepco grid.
