Clothes and travel in India

When I travel, I like joining the culture and I like to fit in. In India, they have very nice styles of clothing and the clothes are comfortable and beautiful. On my first day in India, I bought an outfit called a "lenga chuli," which is a skirt and top. One day, when I was wearing my lenga chuli on the beach of the Ganges River. I began helping an Indian family carry firewood from the beach to the road. Another Indian family came by and asked to take a picture of me. I think they were happy to see me wearing Indian clothing, working with Indian people.
I love to dress up and it's fun wearing these clothes. In India I got lots of compliments when I wore my traditional dresses. I think people felt that I was honoring their culture.
Strangers asked to pose with me! Some of them would say "snap snap?" and make a camera clicking motion. I was happy to get in the picture with people from India!
I found out about bindis. Bindis are decorations— a mark on the forehead. They can be paint, or stick on. You often get a bindi when you go into a temple, but you can also buy stick on bindis and wear them to match your clothing. We asked if it was okay for us to wear bindis since we are not Hindus, and we were told it was. I wore a bindi every day.
There was lots of exotic jewelry to wear, like anklets.
I have returned home with four Indian outfits, which I will wear to parties, dances and everywhere I can. I love the clothes I came home with, and do not regret buying them. They remind me of the beautiful, graceful people of India.
